Northwest horticultural expert and TV host Marianne Binetti joins us to open our spring lecture series. In this talk we will look at gardens through an artist’s eye and how to create them by painting with owers. Marianne will use examples from the gardens of artists and show us how to adapt them to our own yards. The talk includes not just images from her recent trip to Monet’s garden but ideas from many English gardens. To keep the owers growing in the summer heat, included are water-saving garden ideas from Spain and Portugal. Garden columnist and owner of a landscape design business, Marianne has been searching for the perfect plant–impossible to kill, but always in full bloom. It’s something most gardeners are probably looking for, not to mention an honest request coming from the author of over 10 gardening books including Easy Answers for Great Gardens and her latest book Vegetable Gardening for Washington and Oregon. Marianne is a regular guest and garden expert for HGTV and has a local show “Dig in Seattle”. In addition to lecturing, Marianne leads travel groups to visit beautiful gardens all over the world. She and her husband Joe garden on two acres near Enumclaw, Washington.
